What
can patients do to keep so many doctors from
leaving Kentucky?
Every citizen owes it to himself and his family to educate himself as best he can about these
difficult problems such as need for tort reform. One
of the ways to do this is to talk to their own physicians who can tell them actual true
stories of the difficulties that we are facing in Kentucky at this time in retaining
physicians in such high risks especially as emergency room physicians, obstetricians,
neurosurgeons, orthopedic surgeons and other surgical and medical doctors.
It is clearly true that physicians
such as family physicians practicing in rural areas with special qualifications in
obstetrics can no longer afford the insurance necessary to delivery even uncomplicated
pregnancies. All concerned patients should
call 1-800-372-7181 and speak to a very nice and helpful person at the State Capitol
Message Center. You can leave a personal message for your legislator and ask him to
support constitutional change so that we can have meaningful tort reform in Kentucky and ensure the continuing provision of
services which is growing increasingly difficult especially in such rural areas as ours.
It just takes a minute to do this!
